„The other way around becomes the shoe out“ – German Sayings w/ Matthias Schweighöfer
The German saying „Andersherum wird ein Schuh draus“ means „It’s the other way around“ and is an old proverb from the shoemaker’s trade. The „other way around“ is about making the shoe in such a way that the seams can be easily pulled through the leather, and for this the shoe is turned upside down. For further processing, you have to turn it inside out.
In his popular reels series „German Sayings“ on Instagram, the well-known German actor Matthias Schweighöfer (seen a.o. in the new Hollywood blockbuster Oppenheimer by Christopher Nolan) introduces German proverbs and translates them into English with a lot of humor.

On set we talked with Matthias about the traditional craftsmanship behind our collections. Julian Rellecke – designer & creative mind of CPNHGN – is the son of a shoemaker and not only learned the craft from scratch, but also grew up with it.
